A Knitted Wheel of the Year

Knit your way through the season with this series of eight shawls – one for each seasonal holiday.

SAMHAIN

The Samhain shawl draws you in, keeps you engaged, without being too demanding. It has structure and simplicity, clean bones, and nestled among that very solid background, there is a stretch of lace, as if some is drawing it wider in the center. That veil, that bit of lace lets you peek to the other side, or from there to here.

YULE

Venture into the woods with this cozy shawl, both literally and figuratively. It’s perfect for forest walks in winter, but with the fir trees lining every edge of the shawl, it will bring the forest to you, even on busy city streets! This fully reversible shawl is filled with texture and it is easy to knit – with just a bit of a twist in the construction.

IMBOLC

Bridge the gap between winter and spring with this shawl that is a perfect combination of light and cosy. The Imbolc shawl is worked in two different yarn weights. This allows for comforting and relatively quick-to-knit shawl yet still gives room for intricate cables – best of both worlds!

OSTARA

Ostara captures the essence of the season: balance, the light from the sun, the awakening earth and the abundance to come. This reversible half-pi shawl is filled with simple, rich texture, yet the overall feeling is that of lightness thanks to the eyelets radiating throughout. With three colour blocks, it also offers the perfect opportunity to play with colours. What will your combination look like?

LITHA

Dragonflies dancing across the water. That’s what inspired the Litha shawl. The beautiful and intriguing surface captures the feeling of quiet summer days, glistening light and the small joys we pause to notice. The bobbles and cables flowing across the surface are easy to do, no cable needle or turning of the fabric needed. These textured elements are balanced with the smooth stockinette and an eyelet pattern reflecting the ripples on water. Wherever you’re knitting this, Litha brings a bit of summer magic to your needles.
